5. Rang De Basanti – 2006
The life of a group of friends, fed up with the corruption of their times and dreaming of escaping abroad, comes to a dead end with the arrival of a young researcher girl named Sue. Sue is moved by the letters of her dead grandfather and wants to comfort his spirit by traveling to India to make a documentary about the Indian resistance against the British. The movie has gripping scenes and an incredible self-criticism. Aamir Khan and a cast of actors who have appeared in many of his films are present in the movie.
4. Dangal – 2016
It is a movie based on a true story in which Aamir Khan plays Mahavir Singh. A wrestler who has achieved great success in his country, even becoming the champion of India, is unable to represent his country in the world due to lack of adequate support, and his only desire in his life, which has become banal, is to have a son and to raise him and achieve success in the international arena for his country. But Mahavir has four daughters and never had a son.
One day he gets the news that his daughters were involved in a fight and he sees a light in them. To fulfill their dreams, he forces them to become wrestlers and trains them. Despite the objections of the neighborhood and the scorn of the people, he does not give up. These wrestler speeds are the real Indian national wrestlers Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari. Aamir Khan gained and lost an incredible amount of weight for this movie.
3. PK (or Peekay) – 2014
An alien arrives from another planet to investigate Earth, but upon arrival his signaling device is stolen and he is stranded on Earth. While searching for his device he is told that only God can help him. Moreover, he goes in search of God. With his innocent nature, he asks such childish questions to the people he meets that he gets the nickname Peekay. As he searches for God, he comically questions what people believe and how they believe. The movie is not denigrating religions; it is questioning who and how people believe. A great comedy, a great drama. An Aamir Khan classic.
The right number is quite simple. Believe in the God who created us, trust in Him. Destroy the false gods of your own creation.
2. Taare Zameen Par – 2007
Failing in his studies, cant to read or write, Ishaan has a great imagination and a marvelous talent for painting. Here, the strict and rigid administration and teachers extinguished his dreams in an instant. He is like a dead person. Until one day a teacher (Aamir Khan) walks into the classroom. He sees him in a difficult situation and tries to help him. Aamir Khan is the producer, director and actor of this movie.
1. 3 Idiots – 2009
One of the greatest films criticizing the education system is undoubtedly 3 Idiots. It is the warm and cozy story of a student (Aamir Khan) and his friends who question the education system, want to change it and are very successful in their studies. The movie, which has a great soundtrack, takes this criticism of the system as its main subject. Although this is criticized by some, there is not much to comment on the movie. If you haven’t seen it, I recommend you watch it immediately.
Your friend fails, you feel sad. Your friend wins first place, you feel more sad.
Bonus: Fanaa – 2006
The story begins with love, but continues with patriotism, and also deals with the Kashmir incident between India and Pakistan. I recommend Fanaa, one of the Aamir Khan movies that can be enjoyed with its wonderful music.
